Quality seasoned logs sourced from locally managed woodlands. All of our firewood is seasoned for a minimum of 12 months, it is then cut and split, then stored under cover to aid drying. Hardwood comes from deciduous trees such as ash, oak, beech, birch. The wood is more dense and therefore has more calorific value giving out more heat with a slower burn. Ideal for open fires as hardwood does not spit, Great for keeping the fire going over night. Softwood is from conifers, they generally grow faster and are less dense, because of this softwood burns faster and is easier to light. Dry softwood throws out lots of heat fairly quickly. We do not use any pine in our softwood logs as it contains lots of resin that can tar up your chimney, we use a mix of larch, douglas fir, spruce and cedar these are the best softwoods to burn. We offer mixed loads which gives you the advantages of both, easy lighting and slower burning. Mixed loads offer quite a saving over all hardwood.
